Smile and Fly is the biometric facial authentication solution implemented for VIVA AEROBUS, the first Mexican airline to use Artificial Intelligence to improve the passenger experience

Challenge: To develop a biometric recognition system to speed up and facilitate the check-in, pre-boarding and boarding processes of Viva Aerobús passengers at the airports where the airline operates, the system must be sufficiently robust, scalable and with greater than 99% accuracy, and with the highest security and privacy standards for customer data protection.
Proposal: Development of a robust and efficient facial recognition system to streamline check-in, pre-boarding and boarding processes for passengers at airports. In order to make use of this service, passengers must register on the VivaAerobus website, where they are asked to take different photos of their face at various angles, as well as a photograph of their official identification. The system was required to be able to validate the identity of the passenger using any official identification: IFE, INE, Passport or driver's license. As well as validate with life tests and data extraction using OCR.
Results: Since the deployment of the Smile&Fly system, thousands of passengers have benefited from easy and quick documentation without the need to show identification on site, a contactless approach showing only the face, “Flying is as easy as smiling with Smile&Fly!”
